Record breaking zombies wanted for I Spit On Your Rave.

by Jennie Kermode

Between the 6th and 9th of August this summer, thousands of young people will flock to Malvern Hills for the Big Chill music festival. But this year the popular event will see something a little different - most of those people will be living dead.

If you thought that looking dead was usually reserved for the last day of a festival, think again. Big Chill 2009 attendees will be getting a head start courtesy of on-site costumers and make-up artists. The reason? They're all set to star in new post-Apocalyptic horror movie I Spit On Your Rave, which hopes to break the record for the most zombies ever filmed together in one place.

I Spit On Your Rave is set after a virus has destroyed human civilisation, leaving the shambling undead to take its place. But zombies like to have fun too. The film takes the form of a rockumentary, following them as they put on a summer festival, their broadcasts occasionally interrupted by pirate transmissions from surviving humans...

If you'd like to be part of it all, visit the Big Chill website at www.bigchill.net/festival for details. Creative individuals who want to put together their own zombie look are especially welcome. The resulting footage will be screened at the end of the event so that attendees can get a sneak preview of the way they'll look on film.

"When Film4 first approached us it took us about a week to stop laughing at various Big Chill zombie scenarios," said event founder Katrina Larkin. "But now the festival draws closer we are relishing the challenge to produce our own zombie movie and bring out our inner zombies."
