Take One Action to open in Glasgow and Edinburgh

The film festival that aims to change the world.

by Jennie Kermode

"These films and events bring to light stories from across the planet which – like South africa's injustices, courage and beauty – were once hidden. During this festival, you will see the change you want in the world," said Archbishop Desmond Tutu, welcoming the launch of the Take One Action film festival in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Now in its third year, the festival celebrates the work of filmmakers who are trying to make a difference.

The festival will open with bicycle-powered screenings at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh, reminiscent of those seen at this year's Edinburgh International Film Festival. It includes the UK premiere of highly acclaimed Bolivian hit Even The Rain, starring Gael García Bernal, with its award-winning writer Paul Laverty scheduled to attend and talk to fans. Other highlights include documentaries Pink Saris, Blood In The Mobile and You've Been Trumped.

Take One Action will run from the 19th to the 30th of September at the Edinburgh Filmhouse and the Glasgow Film Theatre.
