Creative Scotland has confirmed a new two year funding package for the Hippodrome Festival of Silent Cinema in Bo'ness, confirming that it will return in 2016. The event, which already receives support from Falkirk Council, is Scotland's only dedicated silent film festival and commissions new music to accompany some of the films it shows.

"The programme is under wraps just now but we are working with a wider range of musicians," said festival director Alison Strauss from Falkirk Community Trust. "With more far flung archives than ever before to pack the five days of the Festival with exhilarating live cinema events. It’s a joy to animate this stunning venue with unique, world-class events. But just as important to us is reaching out to communities, youth groups and other venues so we’re devising a touring and outreach programme that will bring HippFest to audiences far and wide."

Last year's festival sold out 11 events. Tickets for the 2016 event will go on sale in February and it will run between the 16th and 20th of March. Screenings will take place in independent cinema The Hippodrome
