Margot Kidder, loved by millions for her role as Lois Lane in the Christopher Reeve Superman films, has died at the age of 69, her manager revealed today. The cause of death is currently unknown.

Kidder was also know for her appearance in horror favourites The Amityville Horror and Black Christmas, as well as several smaller film roles and acclaimed theatrical performances. In 1990, she came close to death in a car crash. She suffered from bipolar disorder for many years and was an advocate for mental health care reform, and she worked in politics as Montana State Coordinator for Progressive Democrats of America.
