New York's Goethe-Institut is celebrating the New York Review of Books publication of Anniversaries, the English language translation (by Damion Searls) of Uwe Johnson's masterwork Jahrestage. I will introduce episode one of Margarethe von Trotta's four-part film adaptation of the novel on November 2 in the Riverside Drive Revisited: Uwe Johnson's New York programme.

On 9 October Margarethe von Trotta was honoured with the inaugural Ulfers Foundation Award at Deutsches Haus, NYU, the evening after her documentary Searching For Ingmar Bergman had its 56th New York Film Festival première.

The Anniversaries book launch at Goethe-Institut will have a panel discussion with Damion Searls joined by critics Renata Adler and Liesl Schillinger on 1 November at 7:00pm.

Margarethe von Trotta: The Political Is Personal retrospective runs from 2 November through 8 November at the Quad Cinema in New York.

Searching for Ingmar Bergman opens in the US on 2 November.
