MUBI announces Manchester festival

Distributor to host two days of screenings as part of worldwide programme

MUBI has announced it will host a MUBI Fest at Manchester’s Aviva Studios on July 12 and 13

The programme will include features, shorts and talks and is part of a worldwide programme, with additional events to follow in Mexico City (July 12-14), São Paulo (July 26-28), Chicago (August 17-18), Bogotá (September 6-8), Buenos Aires (September 12-15), Santiago (October 3-6), Istanbul (November 7-10) and Milan (Dececember 13-15).

The features screening include Levan Akin's Crossing, which sees a woman go in search of her long-lost transgender niece and the Ross Brothers docufiction hybrid Gasoline Rainbow, which follows a group of Oregon teens on a road trip to the Pacific coast. There will also be a screening of Manchester-born filmmaker Naqqash Khalid’s debut In Camera, which examines the life of an actor struggling with roles both fictional and societal.

All three screenings will take place at Aviva Studios and will feature Q&As with the directors. Entrance to the festival talks, workshop and DJ sets is free, with tickets to the film screenings available for £8 per person.
